Some time ago I came across an Instagram story by Ashely Graham where she showed the one and only hydrating cream her, and all the other models, swear by and won’t go anywhere without. I love Ashely for her raw honesty and how she succeded, while staying always true to herself, in the ruthless fashion industry.
I would definitely take advice from her if she says this is a must-have and it costs a tenner in any drugstore!
Well yes, Weleda Skin Food is an essential in anyone’s toiletry shelf, men and women alike, even children! This cream is so versatile and so gentle that it is suitable to almost every skin.

About The Cream
Let’s start by saying that the recipe is over 90 years old and the key ingredients are “viola tricolor (Pansy) extract, calendula and chamomile, in a rich, thick base of oils and beeswax”, according to the company’s website. FYI, beeswax is a natural exfoliant and humectant, while Pansy extract helps to soothe redness and boost microcirculation. So, no nasty ingredients, cruelty free and a refreshing formula thatโs safe to use on your entire body, from your face to your feet.
The list of celebrities that claim Weleda Skin Food is a “must-carry” includes not only Ashely Graham but also Victoria Beckham, Gwyneth Paltrow and Rihanna. And not only celebrities, this cream has amassed 11,448 five-star ratings on Amazon.
The only thing better than finding this holy grail skin product is finding that is actually affordable! You can get it on Amazon or in most drugstores like Boots in the UK & Ireland or Etos in the Netherlands (depending on where you live). The 75 ml tube costs around โฌ10.

My Experience, Tips & Tricks
The first thing you’ll notice is the cream’s texture. It is thick, like cream cheese almost. I’d recommend you warm it up in your hands before applying it.
For day use, I sometimes add a pea size amount of Skin Food to my liquid foundation or to my SPF cream on days I skip make up. If, like me, you have normal-to-oily skin remember that a little goes a long way, and do not worry, it won’t make you look greasy as it absorbs very well. If anything, it’ll give you a healthy glow once it’s set.
You can also use it as a primer before makeup. My trick is to wait a few minutes between applying Skin Food and the next product to give your skin time to absorb it. Think about grabbing a coffee or brushing your teeth in the meantime.
At night I use it as an overnight face mask. My skin looks really hydrated and fresh in the morning. I only use it on my body when necessary (chalky elbows, dry heels, cracked hands in winter when I ride my bike in the Amsterdam weather without gloves, for example). But I’ve read Victoria Beckham uses it as a body cream to prolong her tan. It won’t hurt to try!
My boyfriend, who runs away from creams like cats run away from water, loves Weleda Skin Food too and uses it whenever he has a patch of dry or rough skin. He noticed that even small superficial cuts or scratches heal faster with this cream.

The Veredict
Weleda Skin Food is inexpensive, all-natural, and a multipurpose product. It is probably the next best thing to Crรจme de La Mer if you can’t splash โฌ200 on a cream.
So if you’re looking for the holy grail of hydrating creams, I’d say definitely give Weleda Skin Food a try. Your glowing skin (and bank account) will thank you!
